<p>Yubico has announced the launch of YubiKey NEO, an NFC-enabled version of its YubiKey USB authentication token for single tap mobile security.</p>
<p>The device, which fits on a keychain and includes NFC contactless technology as well as a USB interface, can be read by an NFC-enabled smart phone or tablet straight out of the box to deliver a securely encrypted one-time password (OTP).</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>VTT Technical Research Center of Finland has collaborated on a host of new mobile applications that use NFC technology to help the elderly and visually impaired take their food and medicine.</p>
<p>The HearMeFeelMe project, a joint effort by VTT, TopTunnistem, Tecnalia and Demokritos, has yielded several different applications for acquiring medical information, all which are based on NFC. The solutions involve tagging packages of food and medicine with NFC labels, which contain an audio message about their corresponding products. Users simply tap these labels with their NFC-enabled mobile phones to hear the content.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Texas Instruments has launched its new 45-nm &#8220;WiLink 8.0&#8221; chip that integrates NFC, Wi-Fi, GNSS Bluetooth and FM transmit/receive technologies.</p>
<p>According to TI, the WiLink 8.0 is a combo chip family that embeds an NFC controller solution,  enabling simplified NFC integration on any mobile device. Additionally, WiLink 8.0 solutions are paired and pre-tested with Secure Element technologies from Infineon and NXP.</p>

<p>According to the report, &#8220;Near Field Communication Market Global Forecast &amp;Analysis (2011-2016) By Products,&#8221;  the NFC applications market will grow &#8220;exponentially&#8221; alongside the handset market, with revenues jumping from $  7,686 million in 2011 to $  34,515 million by 2016 at an estimated CAGR of 35%. This growth will be driven by the mobile payments segment, followed by the ticketing and access control.</p>
